Photo Cleaner Privacy Policy

Privacy-First Design

Photo Cleaner processes all photos locally on your device. We never upload, store, or access your photos on our servers. We only collect basic app usage analytics to improve the app experience.

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information

Photo Cleaner does not require you to create an account or provide personal details like your name, email address, or phone number. However, our analytics services automatically collect certain device identifiers as described below.

Photo Data

Photo Cleaner accesses your photo library solely to:

  • Analyze photos for duplicate detection using on-device AI
  • Display photos for your review and selection
  • Delete photos only when you explicitly choose to do so

Important: All photo analysis happens locally on your device. Your photos never leave your device.

Analytics and Usage Data

We collect basic app usage analytics through Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to improve the app experience:

  • App Instance ID (unique identifier for your app installation)
  • Device identifiers (advertising ID if available, device model)
  • App crashes and performance data
  • General usage patterns (e.g., how many photos analyzed, features used)
  • Device information (iOS version, app version)
  • IP address (anonymized) and general location (country/region level only)

Important: This analytics data does not include any photo content, names, emails, or specific photo details. We use these identifiers solely for app improvement and do not attempt to identify individual users or link this data to your personal information.

Advertising Data

Photo Cleaner displays ads through Google AdMob to support free app usage. For advertising purposes, the following data may be collected:

  • Advertising ID (IDFA on iOS) — used for ad personalization and frequency capping
  • Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
  • IP address and general location (for relevant ads)
  • Ad interaction data (clicks, impressions, conversions)
  • App usage context (which screen ads are shown on)

Important: This advertising data is processed by Google AdMob and their advertising partners. You can control ad personalization through your device settings.

2. How We Use Information

Photo Data Usage

Photo Cleaner uses photo data exclusively for:

  • Detecting duplicate and similar photos using Apple's Vision framework
  • Organizing and displaying results within the app
  • Enabling you to delete unwanted duplicates

Analytics Data Usage

We use analytics data to:

  • Identify and fix app crashes and technical issues
  • Understand which features are most useful to users
  • Improve app performance and user experience
  • Make informed decisions about future app updates

Advertising Data Usage

We use advertising data to:

  • Display relevant ads that may be of interest to you

3. Data Storage and Security

Local Processing

All photo analysis and processing occurs entirely on your device using:

  • Apple's Vision framework for feature extraction
  • Advanced VP-Tree algorithms for efficient comparison
  • Secure, sandboxed app environment

No Cloud Storage

Photo Cleaner does not:

  • Upload your photos to any external servers
  • Store your photos in the cloud
  • Transmit photo data over the internet
  • Share your photos with third parties

4. Third-Party Services

Photo Cleaner uses the following third-party services:

Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google)

We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to collect app usage statistics and crash reports. Firebase automatically collects certain device identifiers and usage data. This helps us:

  • Identify and fix bugs and crashes
  • Understand how users interact with the app
  • Improve app performance and stability

Firebase automatically collects: App Instance IDs, device identifiers, IP addresses (anonymized), and basic device information.

5. Permissions

Photo Cleaner requests the following permissions:

  • Photo Library Access: Required to analyze and manage your photos

You can revoke these permissions at any time through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.

6. Data Retention

Photo Data

Photo Cleaner does not retain any photo data beyond the current app session. When you close the app:

  • All temporary analysis data is cleared
  • No photo information is stored permanently
  • The app starts fresh on next launch

Analytics Data

Analytics data is retained by Firebase according to their data retention policies:

  • Analytics data: Up to 26 months
  • Crash reports: Up to 90 days

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Modified" date.
